Avastin: its side effects overweigh its anti-cancer efficacy
in human trials!

That's the July 20th verdict of an FDA advisory panel, whose 12-1 vote urges the FDA
to remove breast cancer from the list of approved uses of the Roche/Genentech drug "Avastin",
a monoclonal antibody against VEGF, according to Washington Post (August 16) , Furthermore,
Avastin is among the most expensive anti-cancer drugs, costing US$8,000 monthly per patient.
Currently Avastin is in clinical trials for several other tumors such as colon,
lung, and kidney cancers as well as brain tumors such as glioma and NF2 tumors.

In my opinion, Bio 30, a CAPE-rich extract of NZ (New Zealand) propolis
would be far more effective (and safer) than Avastin, in particular for
the treatment of brain tumors, for a number of reasons: First of all,
Bio 30 causes no side effect (even at 200 mg/kg daily!). Secondly, it costs
only around US$30 monthly at the effective minimum daily dose=25 mg/kg).
Thirdly, unlike Avastin which does not pass BBB (blood brain barrier), Bio
30 passes BBB, reaching directly the target brain tumors. In fact Bio 30
causes the shrinkage of these brain tumors in human trials. Furthermore,
Avastin blocks only angiogenesis, while Bio 30, blocks not only angiogenesis,
but also division of tumor cells, metastasis, and boosts immune system.
Thus, I should urge at least NF2 and glioma patients to switch from Avastin
to Bio 30, ASAP.

Avastin causes a variety of potentially serious side effects, including blood
clots, bleeding and heart failure. Ironically, thalidomide and Bio 30 that
also block angiogenesis by inactivating the oncogenic kinase PAK1, cause
none of these side effects on non-pregnant individuals, clearly indicating
that Avastin damages the function of several other proteins, in addition
to VEGF, in a non-selective manner. This warns that other anti-cancer
monoclonal antibody drugs also might cause similar non-specific side effects.
